Watch it, Read it, Listen it; Hair & Makup

So often I'll be asked where I've learnt to do make-up  how do I know which brands to buy or how I do my hair. For me it all comes down to YouTube. On YouTube you can find reviews, tutorials, tips, for anything. I've been subscribed to a bunch of different channels over the years, but here are the ones I've found most helpful with a little info and a favourite of their videos. Happy watching!

Pros: 

• Michelle is a makeup artist with a wide range of videos from costume to everyday makeup looks. She also has great nail tutorials and DIY fashion tid-bits.
• Her tutroials range from beginner to pro.
• She has high quality videos, gives clear instructions and uploads regularly.
• Fantastic at recreating celebrity/movie looks (everything from Angelina Jolie to Taylor Swift)

Cons:

• Because she's American the seasons are switched around so you'll get Winter looks in summer etc.
• She often uses expensive products and sometimes products which the average person wouldn't have in their makeup bag (false eyelashes, latex etc.) but these are usually for costume tutorials.
• Sometimes she puts little videos or story lines into her vids which I find personally pretty useless.

Pros:

• Mindy does most of the hairstyles on her girls and it's all explained well
• It's also shot and edited really well - they cut out what they don't need.
• They're braid crazy and even if you can't do the braids yourself they're always amazing to watch.
• They recreate movie/red carpet looks (like the Hunger Games!)

Cons:

• The girls' hair is really long, thick and without layers so if your hair is different it can be hard to imitate some looks. Having short thin hair myself, I usually just take techniques or ideas and use them myself
• Some looks you can't do on yourself

Pros: 

• Kandee has a lot of experience in the makeup biz and she often has little tricks that help execute a look.
• She's great at character looks and they're all pretty achievable 
• She uses a mix of high end and drugstore makeup so it's not too intimidating to try out the looks yourself. 
• She uploads great skin care tips and DIY fashion.

Cons: 

• Kandee loves sharing her life so every now and then you'll get a video in your subscription box about her latest pregnancy or one of her kids; she's a little hit-and-miss
• She's a little inconsistent about uploading - but she's got a massive backlog to browse in the down times. 
• She plugs her facebook, twitter, blogs and other YouTube channel ALOT
• And just warning you, she's a little crazy

Pros:

• If Lauren uploads something it will more than likely be something makeup and she uploads consistently
• She's is Australian which means she always has seasonally appropriate looks and does things like beach looks as well.
• Lauren loves using cheap products and you can be assured that everything she uses you can get too. If you watch American tutorials you can usually only have access to about half of their products.
• She has great reviews and "monthly favourites" videos.

Cons:

• She gets tongue-tied a bit and tends to go on tangents.
• She goes clubbing a lot and does "get ready with me" videos which is just where you watch her get ready and I'm not a fan.

Pros

• It's shot really professionally which helps when trying mimic what she does
• She focuses on hair and each look is usually quite simple

Cons

• Sometimes the hairstyles are a little too simplistic if you're already hair-savy
• On the flip side, sometimes she uses products that people who aren't hairdressers don't usually have.

Either

• Depending who you are, this one could be a pro or a con. As well as hair, and the occasional makeup tutorial, Kayli also has craft and cooking ideas - especially around the holidays - which are usually kid-orientated.
