Wear it; Mascara

Whether you're going to work, a party or a wedding, mascara is a pretty staple item no matter how much makeup you like to wear. Recently I've been asked about the mascara I've been wearing and I don't know about you, but to buy mascara, I usually read other peoples reviews. So here's 5 of my most and least favourite mascaras if you're in need of something new.

// Avon SuperSHOCK //

I bought this mascara for about $5 on eBay and it's the most asked about mascara I have. This mascara lengthens your lashes like nothing else and is pretty long wearing. The only problem is if you're looking for something to add volume to your lashes as well. While this mascara adds length, your lashes end up long and thin. Not my style but if that suits you then this is a definite buy!

// Maybelline the Falsies Volume Express - Waterproof //

Most people on the internet rave about the Falsies range, so when it came to buying a drug-store waterproof mascara, that's where I went. I haven't tried the original Falsies because, to be honest, I was really put off by the Falsies waterproof experience. I don't know if I was expecting too much from a waterproof mascara, but it didn't do a lot for my lashes in the first place. On top of that, when I had a casual dip-in-the-pool; boom - panda eyes and clumps falling off. It didn't really hold up as waterproof. However definitely proved waterproof when I tried to get it off - more trouble than it was worth. RRP $19.25

// MAC Zoom Lash //
I was given the MAC Zoom Lash mascara as a gift. It retails at $33 which is more than I like to spend so I was glad to test it out at no cost. The only word that I can think of to describe it is, well, "disappointing". I usually am quite fond of MAC and they're known well for their quality products. Recently I saw this mascara sitting on my shelf and thought I'd have another bash, I figured it couldn't really be as bad as I had made it out to be in my head. And again, I was hit with clumps galore, not much length, and any volume was masked by my lashes sticking together.

// Smashbox Full Exposure //

After battling with the above products, I decided to put my foot down and do some serious mascara research. Smashbox Full Exposure mascara was, in the end, recommended to me by a makeup artist at KIT Cosmetics. I told her that I wanted a lengthening mascara with volume, that was also long lasting - surely something like that should exist. She pointed me in the way of Full Exposure and it has never let me down since. It gives me long, full lashes and the product itself has lasted me a good 8 months so far. I bought it for $28.95 and wouldn't blink my luscious lashes twice at spending that again.

// Maybelline Great Lash & Great Lash BIG //
If I'm not mistaken, Maybelline Great Lash is the most sold mascara in the world, and has been around since the 70s. This was the first mascara I ever bought and still has a warm spot in my heart. Great Lash isn't particularly dramatic, but it gets the job done for a simple every day look. If you want to go a bit bigger, Great Lash BIG will give you that. Great Lash BIG has similar properties to Smashbox's Full Exposure but toned down a little. Retailing at $15.95 each, I think that one of these should be at the bottom of every woman's handbag.
