I've recently added a few fabric - covered embroidery hoops to my wall, and while I thought they were old news in terms of home decor, and pretty simple to make, everyone that has come into my home since has asked how I've done them, so naturally, I thought I'd make a blog post about it!.

So with this one I've hand sewn (because my sewing machine is broken) four strips of fabric together. My hoop is 25cm in diameter so I've made my fabric to be about 30cm long and wide.

Then I've put the finish product in the hoop. The way it works is that the fabric is wedges in between the two hoops, and so stretches the fabric in the middle.

After the fabric is in, I then tighten the fabric so that it looks the way I like, and then tighten the hoop further.

What you do with the bits poking out it up to you - you can cut them off, hot glue them down, or, when I've used a piece of fabric that I may want to use again, I just tape them back.

Here are a few more (that would have taken a little more effort) for your inspiration. Applique, embroidery, quilting, mixed and matched, with different materials and tools - let your eyes have a feast!
(sorry that it pops out of the page - I wanted to make it as big as I could for you!)

I found this pic after I'd made the above collage but I thought I'd add it in here - a scrapbook-y kind of take;
